A Stronger Snow Plow From Sno-Way®

Stronger, Smarter, Better Through Innovation Shield LogoWe know that your first question when shopping for a snow plow is: Why should I buy Sno-Way®? That is a great question! One of the many reasons our customers choose Sno-Way® is because our plows are STRONGER than anything else you will find on the market.

“STRONGER, SMARTER, BETTER THROUGH INNOVATION” Sno-Way® has this badge on all of its literature. The first part of that motto is important because it is what makes our plows able to withstand the punishment all plows face each winter. Your Sno-Way® plow will be unsurpassed in strength for the work at hand. Let us explain to you what this means to us at Sno-Way® and how we live it every day.

What Does A Stronger Snow Plow Mean To You?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, STRONG is defined as “having the power to move heavy weights or perform other physically demanding tasks, able to perform a specified action well and powerfully, possessing skills and qualities that create a likelihood of success.” We can’t think of a better way to describe a snow plow built by Sno-Way®!

We talk about STRONGER because Sno-Way® products are stronger, even though we are much lighter than our competitor’s products. Sno-Way® started in the mid-1990s to use high-strength low-alloy steels. What this accomplished is that we get more strength using half the thickness of the steel, which translates into less overall weight in the product.

A Weighty Problem…A Perfect Solution

We realized way back then that the front axle ratings on trucks were going to get lighter and the suspension softer to provide a smoother ride. With less weight on the axle and suspension, the truck and the suspension will last longer and cost less to maintain. People know if we carry less weight on our bodies our joints such as hips, knees, and feet last longer. It is no different for trucks. If the front end does not have to carry as much weight, it is easier on the suspension, ball joints, and tires, therefore less maintenance cost and downtime.

The lighter snow plow requires less power from your electrical system when you are working the plow. Even with two batteries and a strong charging system, all the other electronic gadgets that we use today tax our electrical systems. By using less power, you can operate longer without outpacing your electrical system and draining the batteries.

Innovation In Steel

We use a formed channel on the bottom of the blade, which gives the blade structure extra torsional strength. This is done without the use of additional gussets or tubes so that the blade does not bend. By using our proprietary formula steel, we are able to use a thinner gauge and eliminate the extra parts needed for strength. Combined with steel ribs constructed out of the same high-quality steel, we take that extra load off the front of your truck without sacrificing strength.

Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep

Let’s examine the paint process that we use to give you a STRONGER paint job. First, we soak the parts in a bath, which is essentially an acid etch. This is done to remove any weld varnish or mill scale from the surface of the material for better paint adhesion. Then we wash the parts with RO (Reverse Osmosis) water. This process removes impurities from the water, which then prepares the metal to allow the paint to better adhere to the surface. These steps are essential to the successful application of e-coating.

Afterward, we prime the parts with a liquid e-coat for another layer of rust protection. This painting process electrically charges the paint as the parts are immersed, using the part as an electrode. This bonds the paint, along with any pigments and alloys, to the metal. Not only does this protect the metal from rust, but it also assists in better bonding the top paint coats to the part.

Finally, we paint the snow plow with ultraviolet-stable powder paint for a final top coat. This military-grade powder coating will resist the constant friction and sun exposure that is normal for a snow plow. What you end up with is a triple-coat covering that provides the best salt spray hours in the industry.
